Netdecking

« Back to Glossary Index

The practice of copying a deck list found online rather than building a deck from scratch. The term carries both pros and cons within tcg communities:

  • Pros: For new or casual players, it serves as a vital learning tool by removing the steep barrier of entry to deck construction. Much like using an official preconstructed starter deck, it gives players a stable, functional foundation to immediately learn game mechanics, strategy, and card synergy.
  • Cons: It is often criticized for stifling player creativity and causing repetitive gameplay by homogenizing the competitive landscape (the “meta”).

The practice is very common at a competitive level, where optimizing for performance is prioritized.
